Scales

A subject I very often hear about is if having scales is a good or bad idea. A lot of people, especially women, seem to feel that it is a bad idea to weigh themselves, that they will be upset by the numbers, that will be obsessive over it.

All those are valid concerns, however overall I personally think it is good to weigh in now and then. If we don't weigh ourselves the weight can creep on without you realising then before you know it you have 14lb to lose.

I weigh myself roughly once a week at the same time of the day. I know where I am happy to sit weight wise and I understand this can fluctuate by a few lbs. But by weighing in once a week it is unlikely I would have gained more than a couple lbs. If I don't weigh in at all then I could gain a lot before I realised.

With all the working from home at moment a lot of us are sitting around in sweat pants, yoga pants, gym gear etc and that means your clothes will adapt to you. When we were all going to the office wearing more tailored clothes you would quickly notice if something was getting too tight.

I would much rather have 2lb to lose than 14lb. 2lb could be gone by the end of the week. 14lb is going to be a challenge.

Don't be obsessive about your weight, but do keep an eye on it. There is no point thinking not weighing yourself will mean your weight won't be an issue. Just use the scales as a tool to check in on yourself. Like you would with blood pressure, you get that checked to make sure all ok so do the same with weight.
