I cannot tell you how many times a client or potential client has been surprised that I include carbs in their meal plans. They almost always assume I am going to cut most of the carbs from their diets.
But the thing is there is nothing wrong with carbs. Yes some have more nutritional value than others ie wholewheat pasta v white pasta. Or a piece of fruit v a chocolate bar. But we all need carbs. In fact we all need a treat now and then too so I don't even banish chocolate. Life is too short to never enjoy the things you enjoy.
Thanks to some of the "diets" that are around these days we have been conditioned to believe that carbs are the enemy. But they aren't. We need them as much as we need protein or fats, we just have to get the right carbs and the right amounts.
I believe when we try and really restrict or ban something we just want it more anyway. So I always try and include your favourite things in your meal plans. It's all about balance.
What we do need to do is make sure the carbs we have are, for the most part, good carbs. Wholewheat pasta, brown rice, fruits and vegetables, wholegrains etc etc. Limit the white carbs and sugars to treats. So have the chocolate but not every day and not a whole bar.
So eat the carbs just get the balance right and eat the right type of carbs. If you need help with this then contact me.
