Don't feel that you need to have 100s of items in order to create great outfits. In fact having too much can actually make it worse as you have so much to choose from.
Have a look through your wardrobe and take out anything that doesn't fit or is worn out or completely out of style.
Look at the doesn't fit items and see if they can be tailored. If not then sell them or donate them.
If an item is worn out or old fashioned then either bin or donate if it might be of use in some way. Some of the clothing bins just take the fabric and reuse so if you have one near you then take them there.
Now curate your wardrobe. Sort through and see what works for you, what goes with what, what you love. If there are items you just don't like then add to the donate pile.
I personally like a capsule wardrobe but with a bit extra. So I have nice basics and a few other bits added, I use accessories to create interest and I Have a splurge now and then. I only keep items if I love them.
I have a thing for luxury bags and admit some of mine do not get used enough to justify them but it's almost a hobby for me so I don't mind. But with actual clothes you really need to use them or what's the point.
If you minimise your wardrobe a bit you will find it easier to select an outfit, if you have 20 jumpers to choose from then you won't wear them all, so try and strip it back to a few pieces of each item so you get the wear out of them.
I use Pinterest to give me ideas on new outfits. So say you have a pair of leather trousers, search "leather trousers" in Pinterest and loads of outfits will come up, then you can use what you currently own to re create the look. I have found this to be a really good way to wear things that aren't getting enough use because I now have a new idea on how to style it.
It is also a lot easier to look at what you want to wear if you can actually see what you own. If everything is stuffed in the wardrobe you will forget you even own certain items.
So set aside a few hours and have a good sort out. It will make things a lot easier.
