When you get dressed, remember the little details like underwear, accessories and footwear.
Make sure your bra fits properly. If you aren't sure go for a fitting. It makes such a difference. Too small and you will have lumps and bumps and too large will provide no support at all.
Same goes for pants. I swear by a good thong. I cannot stand panty lines. It's such a bad look. Go for nude ones if you are wearing light coloured clothes. White will show, nude will not.
If you don't like thongs then go for seamless or boy shorts. You will need smooth ones. The lacy ones are beautiful but useless under clothes.
If you need tights get the right colour. If they are nude they need to be invisible. I really recommend the M&S 5 denier sheer tights. They make your legs look bare but polished.
Check your footwear. Heels should be intact, not worn down and scuffed. If you are wearing a fabulous outfit and scruffy shoes the only thing anyone will notice is the shoes.
Add some accessories like jewellery, it doesn't need to be expensive or dramatic, a simple stud and chain will add a nice touch.
Try and have a few bags to choose from. You don't need 20 bags but a few to get you through day and evening events is a good idea.
Don't neglect your nails. You don't need a professional manicure each week but keep your nails clean, groomed and elegant. Either polish them yourself or just trim them short and keep them neutral.
